Ford is to reveal a retro-look Mustang at the New York Motor Show next month, reports AutoWeek.
It's said to be a limited-edition recreation of the 1966 Shelby GT350H
developed specifically for the Hertz rental company, complete with the
same gold and black paint job. The original model, much-used for racing
by motorsport enthusiasts, who hired them for a weekend, had a 306bhp
V8. If this similarly finished modern-day Mustang goes into production,
it too could have a raised power output.
It may not be offered for
rent, however...
Although Ford has not yet confirmed that this car will be on show in
NY, a number of manufacturers have already announced their debuts.
Honda's Acura division will show a pre-production version of its MDX
compact SUV, which goes on sale in the autumn in the US; we Europeans
should keep an eye on this one, though, as it's effectively the
next-generation Honda CR-V. Also on a 4x4 theme, Jeep is to unveil the
long-wheelbase four-door Wrangler and Ford its Edge, a large
R-Class-style crossover.

Coupes making their debut include the limited-edition tC RS 2.0 from
Toyota's cut-price Scion brand, a sporty two-door costing $18,800 with
17" alloys, satin metallic paint, unique trim, upgraded stereo and
Alcantara upholstery; and the Infiniti G35 luxury coupe, which could
make it to Europe once Nissan launches its Lexus-rival brand over here.
Saloons launched will include the hybrid Lexus LS600h and the new
Nissan Altima.
However, the headline-grabbing debuts are likely to be those of the
new-generation Audi TT and the Bentley Continental GTC, a convertible
version of the GT coupe.
