Andrew Jones signs with Tasman Motorsport for 2006 V8 Supercar Series

AFTER testing three drivers last week at Winton Motor Raceway, Tasman Motorsport has signed Andrew Jones to join Jason Richards in its two-car Holden Commodore team for the 2006 V8 Supercar Championship Series assault.

The 25-year-old has signed a one year deal with an option for 2007 to drive the team's #23 Commodore next year, debuting at the Clipsal 500 in late March.

Tuesday, 31 January, 2006 - Ben Bray's recently launched Castrol Edge Monaro has already proved its potency, with Bray blasting out the second fastest speed ever recorded by a Top Doorslammer during testing at Willowbank Raceway near Ipswich, Queensland, today.

Having performed a series of launches and half track passes to test various car set-ups, Bray's first full run down the quarter mile produced an 6.08 second elapsed time (ET), with a terminal speed of 244.59 mile per hour (393.63km/h).

The last current generation Monaro coupe built by Holden will be offered for auction next month.

The coupe has been painted with a custom color and modified by Holden's Design and Engineering departments to reflect its iconic place in Australian automotive history.

It will be auctioned globally through eBay.com.au from February 9 - 19 with all proceeds donated to The Leukaemia Foundation, a long-term partner of Holden.

Ford Australia has continued its run of success in the prestigious Australia's Best Cars Awards, scoring two trophies in the 2005 awards.

The Focus CL was judged Australia's Best Mid-size Car under $28,000 and the Ford Territory Ghia AWD was named Australia's Best Recreational Four Wheel Drive.
