Along with the first cuckoo and the appearance of daffodils, we know it's spring when the first photos come through of the new cars to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. This year's Swiss spectacular is open to the public during 8-18 March.
It's a relatively easy and affordable trip down to Geneva, by car or budget airline, with the exhibition halls located right by the airport: more info on location and ticketing can be found at www.salon-auto.ch. However, there's an even easier way to see all the show's highlights: 4Car will have its usual comprehensive coverage, so you can enjoy it from the comfort of your own computer. |

Ford used the Sydney motor show to give the public a sneak preview of its upcoming new light commercial range called Ranger.
After selling light commercials called Courier for decades, Ford Australia carried out market research into that name.
And came away horrified to find that no-one wanted to be associated with couriers – other than, presumably, those who actually were couriers!
The Ranger is significantly larger than the Courier and is being pitched against other pickups and cab-chassis that have grown in size in the last few years. In particular Ford plans to take on the market leaders Toyota HiLux and Holden Rodeo at their own game. |

By ensuring your tyres are filled to the
maximum recommended air pressure, you will save fuel, money and energy.
Under-inflated tyres can increase your fuel consumption by up to 8%.
- Have your car serviced regularly
The better shape your car is, the more fuel efficient it will be and the less fuel it will guzzle.
Turn off your engine
If you're stuck in traffic for more than a couple of minutes, turn off your engine to save fuel.
Try to drive as smoothly as possible.
If everyone left their car at home just one day a week, it would make a huge difference to the environment.
Wherever possible
walk, cycle or use public transport to get from A to B. You can also
organise car pools with people at your place of work.
- Use a park and ride scheme
Buses under these schemes usually have priority bus lanes, so you can get to work without sitting in traffic.

How green is the future of motoring?
